New House in Charnwood , Leicestershire
Walters Architects have just completed the design for a new house in Charnwood, Leicestershire and are about to submit to the scheme for full planning.
This is a contentious application as the site is considered to be in the open countryside. We are expecting this to be a difficult process so have put together a really robust application in order to have the best chance of success.
The practice and client have worked together previously and have a good relationship. The client has a great knowledge of the Local Authority and has been a pleasure to work with. They totally understand the issues they face with this scheme. That always helps us as designers.
Initially the dwelling is intended to be a guest house for people visiting the local area and, in particular, associated with our clients business.
Through the design process, we have tried to incorporate local sympathetic materials and non imposing massing so the structure will blend into the immediate location. Neither ourselves or the client wanted the project to stand out. It should be a subtle and considered addition to this site.
Hopefully the planners agree with our approach and like the design.
